Traditional acupuncture is a healing art and science which teaches how to see the entire human being in bodymindspirit, how to recognise the process of health and illness, and how to go about the restoration of lost health in an individual.
Dianne M Connelly - Traditional Acupuncture: The Law of the Five Elements
IN THIS TIME OF CORONA CRISIS I HAVE SUSPENDED FACE TO FACE PRACTICE, AND, STAYING CONNECTED AND HEALTHY IS VITAL.
I AM AVAILABLE FOR CHINESE MEDICAL ADVICE, OFFERING WAYS TO BOOST YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM, AND THE LISTENING AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT YOU USUALLY RECEIVE DURING A TREATMENT SESSION, SO DO PLEASE CALL IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ACCESS THIS KIND OF HELP.
Traditional Chinese Medicine rebalances and supports the body’s natural health rhythms, avoiding side effects and offering a drug-free alternative to healing, as well as supporting the body when drugs are necessary. My vision is for acupuncture to become, for those that want it, the medicine of first resource and not last resort.
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese system of healing that uses hair-fine needles inserted at specific points on the body to re-balance vital energy or Chi. Five Element Acupuncture aids healing by working with, and re-balancing, the elements from which we are made. It addresses health in every way - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Acupuncture is beneficial for most health conditions because it treats you as a whole person, the person behind your symptoms, and holds well being in every area of life as vital to health.
I trained in acupuncture at the College of Traditional Acupuncture, Leamington Spa (1983-86), and have practised in and around the area since then.
I am passionate about enabling healing and growth, supporting you to make the changes you need to make in your life to be whole and healthy, on whatever level that may be, physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Above all, my work is about the healing journey and the whole person.

Some conditions require the use of a dried herb called moxa (artemesia vulgaris) on the points. The moxa is shaped into small cones and smoulders gently on the point until the required amount of heat has been achieved. It is a completely safe procedure. Moxa may also be used in stick form to give more direct heat. This can be particularly effective in conditions as diverse as frozen shoulder and turning breech babies!

I do not work with pain relief in isolation (especially back pain) because of the possibility of masking the pain of misaligned bones. I recommend consulting an osteopath, chiropractor or structural body worker in the first instance.
I am a full member of the British Acupuncture Council (the registering body for professional acupuncturists) and abide by its Codes of Ethics, Practice and Professional Conduct. I am in regular supervision as an essential part of mature practice and my supervisor follows the same codes, which include confidentiality.
